Heroine of Time chap 6

‘Who is that?  Dad?  No, red eyes, black hair…but he looks like Dad…’  These were Leeda’s thoughts in her dream that night.  ‘There’s Dad.  But, he’s young…like my age…what’s going on?’

“Aaaah!”  Leeda woke up from her dream, screaming.  Her breathing was fast and hard.

“Leeda?”  Leeda looked down and saw Lan sitting at the foot of her bed.  “You were groaning so I came to check on you.”

“Lan.  I need to talk to Dad.”

“He’s in the courtyard.  Do you feel better?”  Leeda just noticed she felt much stronger.

“Yeah, I do,” she said, smiling.  “Let’s go.”  Leeda and Lan started toward the courtyard to find Link.

“Dad?” Leeda looked around as they entered the courtyard.

“Leeda!  Are you feeling better?” he replied.

“Yeah.  I feel much better. But…”

Link frowned.  “But what?”

“I had a weird dream.”

“About…?”

“You.  Kinda.  In a way…”

“Well, what happened?”

“There was a man who looked like you.  But, he had red eyes and black hair.  You were young, like my age.  He attacked you, but then I woke up.”

“Dark…” Link said quietly, gritting his teeth.  Leeda almost didn’t catch it.

“Who?”

“I, I, I don’t know,” he said quickly.

“Dad.” Leeda said suspiciously.

“I don’t know who that is.”

Leeda paused. “Well, whatever.  Anyway, I want to fight you again.”

Link tried to act all confident.  “Really?  Are you going to get all pissed when you lose again?” he asked playfully.

“Shut up.  I’m going to beat you this time,” Leeda replied, smiling.

“I want to watch!” Lan interrupted.

“Fine,” Leeda replied.  “Let’s go.”

Yet again, a crowd gathered in the courtyard as the news spread.  Leeda heard different whispers this time.  “I think Leeda will win.”  “What? No way! She hasn’t beaten him yet.”  “True, but rumor has it she holds the Triforce of Power.”  “Really? I hadn’t heard that.  All of the Triforce in one family…”

Link was apprehensive about this duel.  ’The last time I fought someone with the Triforce of Power, I had to kill him.  But, she’s not evil.  I can’t just let her win.  Hmmm…’

“Dad!  Would you stop it?!  I’ll be fine!”  Link looked at her in utter confusion.  She just stared back.

“How do you do that?’ he asked, mystified.

“I don’t even know.  Maybe I get it from Mom…”

Link frowned. “I guess…. Anyway, are you ready?” he asked, easing up.

Leeda smiled.  “Definitely.”  ’I will so beat him this time.’


“Ready…GO!”  Link yelled, and the battle began.  Leeda attacked first.  She ran towards Link, holding up her sword.  Link easily sidestepped out of the way.  ’I’ve got to surprise him.  This is the same thing that happened last time…’  Link was barely dodging Leeda’s attacks.  ’Exactly like last time.’  Leeda shifted her focus from Link from a second and saw Nabooru in the crowd.  Nabooru nodded to her.  Suddenly, Leeda knew exactly what to do.  ’That’s it!’  Leeda jumped as high as she could and landed behind Link.  He looked around frantically for her, but he couldn’t see her.  He gasped as Leeda put her sword at his neck.

“I win,” Leeda said.

Link couldn’t help but smile.  “Good job.”

Leeda was suddenly very excited.  “I won!  Yes!”  She was giddy with laughter.  The crowd cheered and gradually dispersed.

“You are ready.”  Link beamed at his daughter.  She grinned happily back.
